Teachers at Erie Middle School teamed with Erie’s Tree Board and Open Space & Trails Board to give students an opportunity to participate in the town’s 9th Annual Arbor Day Celebration. On April 21, a week before Arbor Day, sixth graders planted more than a hundred trees and shrubs along the banks of Coal Creek. Leading up to the field trip, the children learned about the flora and fauna that would benefit from the revitalization of Erie’s riparian corridor. Community Development Group continues to support this revitalization effort.
